Marine steel plates refer to hot-rolled steel plates used to manufacture ship structures, which are produced in accordance with the construction specifications of classification societies. Due to the harsh working environment of ships, the hull is subject to chemical corrosion, electrochemical corrosion, corrosion by marine organisms and microorganisms from seawater; the hull is subjected to large wind and wave impacts and alternating loads; the shape of the ship makes the processing method complicated, etc., which puts forward strict requirements on the steel used in the hull structure.First of all, good toughness is the most critical requirement. In addition, it is also required to have high strength, good corrosion resistance, welding performance, processing performance and surface quality. In order to ensure quality and sufficient toughness, the chemical composition of steel is required to have a Mn/C ratio of more than 2.5, and there are also strict requirements for carbon equivalent, and it must be produced by a steel mill approved by the ship inspection department.Hull structural steel is divided into general strength structural steel and high strength structural steel according to the minimum yield point. Hull structural steel is further divided into general strength steel and high strength steel. General strength steel is divided into four grades A, B, D, and E according to quality; high strength steel is divided into two strength grades and three quality grades AH32, DH32, EH32, AH36, DH36, and EH36 according to quality.

Material requirements

Shipbuilding steel plates refer to thin and thick steel plates produced from special shipbuilding structural steels for the manufacture of hull structures of ocean-going, coastal and inland ships. Shipbuilding structural steels include carbon steel and low alloy steels, and the steel grades end with C (ship). Carbon steels include 2C, 3C, 4C, and 5C, and low alloy steels include 12MnC, 16MnC, 15MnTiC, 14MnVTiReC and other steels. The thickness is 2.5~50 mm.
